We have an Engine!

With great thanks to Cycle Solutions we now have an engine! Our ambitious propulsion system is one step closer to becoming a reality. We actually want to create a human inboard boat engine, this sounds a lot easier than it really is. We have the engine and the power now, our own Mike Webb will be the power providing 10MP (Mike Power?) per leg. This should provide us with some excellent acceleration.

Pictures are on their way, slight technical issue at the moment, but I promise they shall be on later/tomorrow.

The only thing left to do is get a propeller and a prop shaft and then find a way of cobbling it all together... As the guys from Top Gear would say: "How hard can it be?"

  1. If you need any help from an engineer of the agricultural variate I could be of some assistance with helping you getting your 10MP engine to power your propeller when you find one.
I'm thinking along the lines of old bicycle and a belt and pulley set up to run the drive shaft for your propeller.
The bonus's you get with using a bicycle are that you can use the gears on it to adjust the load on the 10MP engine so that it is correct for it and that you can attach the handle bars to the rudder for steering.

If you need help cobbling together a Scrapheap Challenge style power transmission system, I am more than happy to help volunteer my services.
Things I am useful for: I can weld and own a welder, I am good with scrap yard scavenging, I have all the tools an know how to get this working.

If you do need my help, I can be contacted on 07708 455210.
