With great thanks to Cycle Solutions we now have an engine! Our ambitious propulsion system is one step closer to becoming a reality. We actually want to create a human inboard boat engine, this sounds a lot easier than it really is. We have the engine and the power now, our own Mike Webb will be the power providing 10MP (Mike Power?) per leg. This should provide us with some excellent acceleration.
Pictures are on their way, slight technical issue at the moment, but I promise they shall be on later/tomorrow.
The only thing left to do is get a propeller and a prop shaft and then find a way of cobbling it all together... As the guys from Top Gear would say: "How hard can it be?"

Have Pallets, Will Travel!
The process has begun! After making a few telephone enquiries and talking to a few peoples in the know, we have decided on the materials needed to create the raft and we have also managed to obtain some of them, well, the main body of the craft at least.
Thanks to http://www.tilesandinteriors.com/, we have managed to get some pallets which will form the 'hull' of the illustrious Mike-Row-Soft Error and we have also managed to scavenge some additional wood for a deck and (if possible) a poop deck! We also have our propulsion system(s) sorted, just need to make a few more telephone calls.
Anyway back to ringing people up to see how far charitable donations will get us! If you happen to have any suitable 'raft-material' around, email us at info@seo-computers.com or call us on 01326 378 424!

Anchors Away!
Hello one and all! Welcome to a special blog from SEO Computers! We are taking part in the Anything Floats Raft event http://anything-floats.tk/ <-- click for some more details. Anyway, this blog will be used to keep our thoughts, plans and ideas in some form of order and so that you, the public, can keep an eye on what we are up to. We hope to be able to bring photos and videos to the table at some point, showing you what we have done so far!
At the moment, not so much. We've got the team sorted and it goes thusly:
Name: Webbed Solutions
Skipper: Martin Toy
1st Mate: Richard Langley
Crew: Mike Webb & Chris Bunt
The Boat: Mike-Row-Soft Error
So 4 man crew and a humorous boat name, seems easy enough... But, as our combined sailing experience is 6 months on fishing boats, one canoe ride and a few of us reading various sea-related books, I think this is going to prove a little more difficult than we originally thought... We just need to see how our engineering skills hold up... Here's hoping...
Will blog again soon when we have some sort of plan!
